    Introduction

    n-Hexane is a straight-chain alkane. It is a colorless, highly volatile, and extremely flammable liquid with a faint, characteristic odor. It is a typical non-polar solvent with extremely stable chemical properties (it does not react with acids, alkalis, or strong oxidants at room temperature). It is extremely insoluble in water but can be mixed in any proportion with other non-polar organic solvents (like chloroform and ether).

In summer, precautions must be taken to prevent high temperatures from causing a sudden increase in internal container pressure.

After extraction, leveraging n-hexane’s low boiling point (69°C), the solvent is volatilized and recovered through gentle distillation, leaving behind pure crude oil.
