Introduction
Light magnesium oxide is a white amorphous powder characterized by its large volume and high fluffiness (large apparent specific volume). It is a basic oxide. When exposed to air, it readily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide. It dissolves slowly in acids and ammonium salt solutions to form corresponding magnesium salts; reacts slowly with water to form magnesium hydroxide; and possesses extremely high refractory and insulation properties.

Applications
- Rubber & Adhesives Industry: Used as a vulcanization accelerator and acid acceptor for neoprene rubber, preventing compound scorching.
- Advanced Building & Refractory Materials: Used to manufacture advanced fireproof boards and refractory bricks, taking advantage of its extremely high melting point.
- Environmental Treatment: An excellent desulfurizer used in flue gas desulfurization and as a precipitant in heavy metal wastewater treatment.
Storage Requirements
Must be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated indoor environment. Due to its strong tendency to absorb moisture and CO2, packaging must be strictly sealed. Moisture prevention is the key to storage.
Handling and Precautions
The powder is extremely fine and easily becomes airborne. Handle with great care. Operators should wear dust-proof clothing and high-density dust masks. Eye contact may cause mechanical irritation, so goggles should be worn.
Formula
Neoprene Adhesive Formula: Neoprene (100 parts) + Light Magnesium Oxide (4 parts) + Zinc Oxide (5 parts) + Solvent.
Function: Light magnesium oxide acts as an “acid acceptor” and “anti-scorching agent” in this formula. During processing and storage, neoprene tends to release hydrogen chloride (HCl). Magnesium oxide rapidly neutralizes and absorbs the HCl, preventing premature cross-linking (scorching) of the rubber and improving stability.
Packaging
