    Introduction

    Boric acid is a white powder or transparent shiny scale-like crystal that feels slightly soapy to the touch. It is an extremely weak acid that releases hydrogen ions in aqueous solutions primarily by binding to hydroxide ions from water molecules. Heating to 170°C-300°C causes it to gradually lose water, forming metaboric acid, tetraboric acid, and finally boric anhydride (boron trioxide).
